Unless you specifically need the cold weather performance this is inferior in almost all other ways to lithium based technology. The whole point of this being developed is that if economy of scale came into play sodium could technically make rechargeable battery banks very inexpensive as sodium is very common compared to lithium, but without some unforeseen technological breakthrough it will always be a much heavier and larger power source.

or the fact that maybe sodium ion batteries won't explode?

Inferior in what way? Flammability rating of any lithium based batteries are going to be the primary factor. The energy density is a bit less. Ok. Not biggie - so it will weight a bit more but not burn down your house. And last 2-3x times longer. Pretty good reason to pick this sodium stuff over lithium chemistry.

Exactly! LFP batteries are still using lithium and may produce highly combustible hydrogen gas. Plus recharging cycles of Na-Ion (sodium) batteries are 2-3x higher than that of lithium yielding longer life span for the sodium based batteries.
