I'm looking for a 5.1 system and this seems like I'd be disappointed, even though reviews are good.
Most 2 piece soundbar or the older ones, I should say, are/were 3.1 configuration. Meaning they have 3 front speakers in the soundbar + 1 subwoofer.
Now, this LG soundbar is also a 2 piece system, BUT it has a cool 5.1.3 configuration. It has 5 MAIN speakers in the soundbar alone. Here is the breakdown. 3 speakers are in the front(1 left, 1 center and 1 right) + 1 on each side. Yes. The actual sides of the soundbar(for surround sound) = 2 speakers, for a total of 5 MAIN speakers. The 1 is the subwoofer(.1) and the 3 height speakers(located on top of the soundbar, left center & right)that fire sound upward for Dolby Atmos is the .3 --> Giving you that 5.1.3 configuration.
Fyi, if you add 2 rear speakers, this become a 4 piece system that is now a 7.1.3 configuration. Even better, if you add rear speakers that has built in height speakers on top of each one, it is still a 4 piece system, but it now becomes an awesome 7.1.5 configuration.
