This mini PC is mainly attractive as a compact Windows box with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and the bundled storage and memory make the price feel reasonable in a DRAM shortage. The Ryzen 7 7730U is repeatedly framed as older Zen 3 silicon, essentially a rebadged 5800U or 5825U, with Vega graphics that trail newer 780M based mini PCs by a wide margin. The hardware can still handle light use, home assistant, kids games, or a tower replacement, but it is not viewed as a strong gaming pick. There is also lingering caution around AceMagic support and past spyware concerns, with clean reinstall advice often suggested.

  • Buyers who want a cheap parts donor, because the RAM and SSD alone are valued near the asking price.

  • Home office workers who want a compact desktop replacement, because it can sit behind a monitor and still handle everyday multitasking.

  • Windows users planning to pool drives, because DrivePool can provide software RAID-style storage management on the machine.

  • Parents setting up a kid-friendly game box, because it has handled Minecraft and Roblox and can mount neatly behind a TV.

  • Buyers who want a newer platform with expansion headroom, because this Zen 3 design lacks Thunderbolt 4 and trails Zen 4 mini PCs on graphics and I/O.

  • Gamers wanting smooth 1080p play, because the Vega graphics are far behind 780M-class chips and can feel too weak for modern games.

  • People expecting a strong graphics upgrade over older mini PCs, because the integrated GPU is only about half as fast as a Z1 Extreme.

  • Anyone who needs dependable vendor support, because the brand can leave hardware problems unresolved until a payment dispute is opened.

This sounds like a horrible idea.
Why? Any suggestion?

You may use software raid, but doing it like that is more likely to introduce a problem than solve it. If you want a raid setup you should shuck those drives and put them in a pre-build or diy NAS.
I'm not sure if these are shuckable but I can check. I didn't see a nas with 2.5" ports, i was thinking of giving up on these 2.5 externals and get a synology but I'm still not sure since 4 bay synologies are expensive.

I wonder if getting this is better than putting together a Raspberry Pi, any Pi user here to chime in?

I mean....that's how RAID1+0 works. Many professional system does this for redundancy.
They aren't doing it over USB.

For $80 more (yes, I know that's like 20%ish percent more, but RAM increases will make this comedically small relatively speaking), you can get the equivalent system from Origimagic: A1 mini (SD won't let me link to Amazon for it) with...

Zen 4 processor (7840hs) with vastly superior iGPU and much better IPC

32 gigs DDR5, which as we know is basically worth its weight in gold now.

PCIe 4.0 support ..and a faster 1tb SSD to go with it...probably approaching its weight in gold, too.

And an Oculink port!!!!

Full disclosure, I haven't used the Origimagic...but I have used a mini PC (gmktec m7) with a 6850h (the same zen generation as the 5000 series in this listing), and I decided the small increase in cost was worth all of the extra things I mentioned above...

If you spend a full $500, you can get the aoostar gem12 with same specs as above and get an extra USB 4.0 port for four displays...but not really worth it IMO...ironically, though, it's price has been the same $500 for like eight months!

I ordered this but I think I'm going to return it,, looking at the GPU performance it's absolutely spending $100 more or so to get a 780m chip. I've had handhelds with the 780m and they can play most games well I'm hearing vega is like half the performance and that's just nowhere near enough for even 1080p gaming nowdays.

Can you shuck this and make it work as a NAS server? I want a low powered NAS/cloud/server without getting a mobo.

I had many 7 and 8 series intel nucs. How does these current units compare in terms of reliability, support, and drivers? These are great prices but not sure about these brands thanks

No, and it's been addressed and debunked several times in the previous threads. This is redundant now.
Redundant or not but the potential customers should be aware that while you're paying for Windows, in really you don't own the OS. It's merely a Microsoft's terminal at your home which they own and control for A to Z. They just lend it to you in exchange for your privacy

Just the RAM and SSD alone would be worth close to $380. Throw in a free barebones and you're doing alright
I was going to comment that it might soon to make sense to purchase these to harvest RAM soon!
