Vega graphics vs RDNA2.
The CPU is also a bit slower than the Z1 Extreme. Zen4 had some large performance gains. At 28W system-rated, this thing isn't pushing higher TDP on the APU either.
At the age of this machine, it really isn't a good value. Elevated prices on RAM and SSDs don't make this 5-year-old-architecture machine that great. For stripping its parts, perhaps, but the RAM and SSD part numbers may not be anything special either. I didn't see any manufacturer names, model numbers, or speeds listed.
Community Reviews
This mini PC is mainly attractive as a compact Windows box with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and the bundled storage and memory make the price feel reasonable in a DRAM shortage. The Ryzen 7 7730U is repeatedly framed as older Zen 3 silicon, essentially a rebadged 5800U or 5825U, with Vega graphics that trail newer 780M based mini PCs by a wide margin. The hardware can still handle light use, home assistant, kids games, or a tower replacement, but it is not viewed as a strong gaming pick. There is also lingering caution around AceMagic support and past spyware concerns, with clean reinstall advice often suggested.
Common Questions (5)
The Ryzen 7 7730U is essentially a rebadged 5800U/5825U Zen 3 chip with Vega graphics, so it is notably behind Ryzen 7 7840HS or Z1 Extreme systems. Its iGPU is roughly half as fast as a Z1 Extreme-class chip, and the CPU is also a bit slower.
The RAM and SSD are the main value drivers, with estimates ranging from about $280 to close to $380 for those parts alone depending on assumptions. That makes the bundle attractive if you want the storage and memory, but less compelling if you are buying mainly for the older 7730U platform.
It is fine for light use and older games, but the Vega iGPU is much weaker than 780M-class graphics and may not be enough for modern 1080p gaming. An eGPU setup would also be limited by the lack of Thunderbolt 4, though Oculink-based expansion is discussed on higher-end alternatives.
The spyware concern is treated as addressed, and a clean Windows or Linux install is still a sensible precaution if you want to start from scratch. That also avoids any preinstalled software you do not want on a new mini PC.
Yes, the code still works on the 16GB version and brings it down to $296.10 after a $32.90 discount. One purchase history cited the 16/512GB model at $269 with a prior coupon, showing the deal has moved around over time.

Zen 4 processor (7840hs) with vastly superior iGPU and much better IPC
32 gigs DDR5, which as we know is basically worth its weight in gold now.
PCIe 4.0 support ..and a faster 1tb SSD to go with it...probably approaching its weight in gold, too.
And an Oculink port!!!!
Full disclosure, I haven't used the Origimagic...but I have used a mini PC (gmktec m7) with a 6850h (the same zen generation as the 5000 series in this listing), and I decided the small increase in cost was worth all of the extra things I mentioned above...
If you spend a full $500, you can get the aoostar gem12 with same specs as above and get an extra USB 4.0 port for four displays...but not really worth it IMO...ironically, though, it's price has been the same $500 for like eight months!
