This Craftsman Overdrive wrench set stands out as a strong value for 6 point SAE box wrenches, especially for rusty or rounded fasteners where the anti slip cutouts help reduce stripping. The set is also praised as a practical alternative to pricier brands, with local exchange options at ACE or Lowe's and a price that undercuts Snap on and Icon. The main drawback is warranty convenience, since replacement experiences can depend on the store or dealer and may involve shipping or proof of purchase. A solid pick if you want durable wrenches without premium brand pricing.
DIY mechanics working on rusty fasteners, because the 6-point box ends grip rounded hardware well and are less likely to strip.
Home mechanics who want a wrench set they can replace locally, because Craftsman exchanges can be handled at ACE or Lowe's instead of waiting for a truck.
Warranty replacement logistics may be less convenient than walk-in options, since post-Sears Craftsman exchanges reportedly required shipping and shipping costs.
Replacement can depend on the retailer and may be less convenient than a walk-in swap. Some stores can exchange Craftsman locally, but post-Sears warranty handling has also been described as requiring shipping back and paying shipping, unlike Harbor Freight's easier in-store replacement.
Yes. The Overdrive box ends are 6-point with anti-slip cutouts, which makes them especially useful on rusty or rounded fasteners because they're less likely to strip. The tradeoff is that 6-point ends can be harder to position and reposition around obstacles.
It's described as one of the best-value 6-point box wrench sets available, especially at this price. The set is also noted as a cheaper option than Snap-on, while still performing well in the TTC testing.
Details these are 6 sided ends so these are amazing when ur working on rusty bolts they have less of a chance to strip!!!! The ones in the test video are 12 point ends different model.

6-point box ends are great for that, but a nightmare to get positioned and repositioned if there are any obstacles in the way.
And I just gotta ask; how many of you guys are breaking combo wrenches on a regular basis ???I use tools daily, and the only tools that I break regularly are ratcheting combo wrenches. You drop them and all the little pieces go flying everywhere, lol.
I break ratchets all the time. PSA to everyone that a ratchet is not a breaker bar 😆
I've never seen this channel. But I think you left out an important detail. Looks like the craftsman sustained damage after the test and was not as tight of clearances before the test as well. Given craftsman warranty isn't as simple as walk in/walk out with a replacement. Snap on would still be the superior if you had unlimited money. Icon seems to be on par but the HF carefree walk in/walk out warranty would put me in the icon group. But at this price who cares
I have both the Icon anti-slip and the Craftsman Overdrive. One difference between the two is the Overdrive box ends have six-points with the anti-slip cut outs, while the Icons have the standard 12-point box ends. For highly rusted fasteners, the Overdrive box ends are excellent.
