I just sold this laptop on ebay, because I picked up the Zenbook S 16 open box on a great sale.
I do miss aspects of this laptop, the UM3406. Here are some notable aspects:
OLED screens at WUXGA resolution exhibit rainbowing around text. that's just the nature of it. When I came from a LCD screen, it was so very noticable. After some time though, you adjust.
The bluetooth audio on this laptop has some severe latency, so there's a significant delay in sound.
The chassis will get super duper smudgey.
the 8840HS is a pretty phenomenal chip on both CPU and iGPU front for this form factor. I suggest all zenbook users get G Helper. There is a bit of room for a stable undervolt, which helps performance, thermals and battery life.
Pretty bad cooling. It can get heat soaked pretty easily depending on how you're using it, so it will eventually thermally throttle down on heavy compute or graphics. it doesn't go slow, just... slower. and if you're playing a game struggling for frames, then keep struggling bro. undervolt it.
the SSD is easy to swap out, but I had to go wired ethernet to get a working wifi driver on reinstall.

The list of aspects are all negative (except for the suggestion on the 8840HS). You miss all those negatives? I'm confused...

I generally try to be helpful on SD, for others to make better informed decisions, not to post nonsense or argumentative comments. I explicitly chose not to respond to you in a separate post because I saw you were fishing for arguments, and seeing your post count, you'd win in a contest of who has the last word. peace.

Ty! I bought this before you posted and after reading your post along with a YouTube review, I decided against it. Additionally, I don't quite need a laptop yet, so I'm realizing it was impulsive. I'm worried ram prices will continue to go up but I'll probably want 32gb anyway and this is soldered.Anyway, ty for posting! Personal experiences always help for those like me who haven't been keeping up to date with tech. Last time I built a computer was probably 2011 or so

Keep in mind that all LPDDR is soldered. Soldered RAM is faster and lower powered than non soldered RAM, so its a trade off. Its rated over half the power and about twice the speed.
Especially with integrated graphics that share RAM, soldered gives a lot of performance and efficiency boosts, so I would prefer soldered any day.
When we had the graphics card shortage, all retailers were out of stock and you could only buy scalped cards off ebay at ridiculous prices. But no RAM is out of stock. So I dont know. Maybe it gets worse and you will start to not be able to buy it readily. Or maybe this is one of the many price fixing schemes memory manufacturers have been caught doing over the years, and things will stabilize. It smells fishy, but I guess we will find out in time...

Thanks, had no idea soldered ram was that much better! I just read about the main downside of not being able to upgrade easily. I think the thing that gets me most is the fact that this laptop heats up quickly. Otherwise with the ram conflict gone, I think I would've liked this laptop!
