In the product page, there are two versions, one with Ryzen 7 H 255 (This one) and another is Ryzen 7 8745HS (Pre-Order One). Now they are literally the exact same Processor, Ryzen 7 2XXX is the rebranding of Hawk Point (Ryzen 8000 series) CPUs by AMD for the year 2025.

However, the device with Ryzen 7 H 255 is slightly superior, despite looking exactly same. Below are the avantages: -

The Ram support has been bumped up to 128GB (Due to newer firmware)
The HDMI port is 2.1 with 4K@120Hz output vs HDMI 2.0 4k@60Hz in the Ryzen 7 8745HS model
The USB4 Type-C port is capable of Power Delivery In from 65W-100W. So, if you have any USB-C Monitor or USb-C Hub which is capable of delivering 65W+ Power to the Host device, you can use that to power the whole setup without the providied DC Power Adapter.

54W is not Power Delivery, it is the TDP of the CPU itself, meaning it can utilize up to 54W power 100W PD is the power to the whole system, for powering it.

I've reviewed many many of their mini PCs and never found any malware.

However I always recommend doing a fresh windows install. Usually these companies just use some cracked windows image to rapidly install the OS, so its better to use your own

The 8745HS notes this in the specs, is that output?
Power delivery up to 54W

Also the 255 says supports 100w PD charging, almost as if it's an output rating

You can get 32GB of laptop RAM for $300 or thereabouts, so you're at basically, a 1TB SSD for $75-ish, so you're basically paying another $65 for a decent mobile CPU and all of the associated platform components (the equivalent of the $260 barebones someone above mentioned buying). I can't speak to this device's quality but the value proposition looks good.

Thanks, I was about to pull the trigger on the Ryzen 7 8745HS (Pre-Order One) version for low 4K-editing.
However, I asked AI and it warned for past malware / spyware preinstalled ("Redline infostealer", "Bladabindi backdoor") that has me worried. Also reports of not honoring warranty and ghosting customers.
Any safer suggestion for this price point (~$500)/ performance specs?
Those past malware incidents only affected some units as far as is known. There should not be any concerns at this point.

Warranty support is likely to be highly limited on these computers. My assumption about buying any computer like this is to assume there is no support available.
If you want something that works for 4K editing and is about $500, you can't do better than a Mac Mini (education discount price or somewhat regular sales). I know macOS won't work for everyone, but a Mac Mini should be considered if a primary use for a mini PC is video editing.

Any thoughts in how this compare with the Mac mini M4 that was, and still is, on sale at $400 recently at Microcenter/Best Buy (price matched)?
