I just used mine the other night to finely grate for Carbonara. It turned out like a soft powdery snow. Easy on the hands and shoulder for as much as I grated.

Wash it right away in warm soapy water and wipe in opposite direction of grating so it doesn't shred your sponge/cloth. I have never had an issue.

Paid double 10 years ago, and it's a great investment (if still made the same.) Requires half the "swipes" of cheaper ones with half the grip effort. Quicker at doing a pound of cheese vs pulling out the food processor.

NGL, I've put it in the bottom rack of dishwasher from the start. No visible damage or noticeable dulling tho I'm sure in another 10 years it may need replaced. I rarely use the container (cutting board instead), but it stores up inside so no great space concern.

I got this last year around February time when it was around this price range...it's a solid grater all around and a giant one...it has different grater sizes on each side and the box helps it contain what you are grating.
