I got the real thing, Concept2 Skierg. Also paid $1200 for it. Worth every penny. I used it to prepare for Hyrox races in Anaheim and Vancouver. Have another in Vegas in Feb.
FyI, get a letter of medical necessity from your provider and you can use HSA funds and reimburse yourself for it.
I bought this around Black Friday. Instructions do suck I ended up watching a tutorial on how to put concept 2 so erg together and it was pretty easy.
I paid ~250 for it and it's been worth every penny so far. I use it for warm ups and just do the interval settings it has. I can't comment much else on the actual metrics or w.e it uses as I don't care and don't use it.
If you want a ski erg that works well and is smooth like concept 2 for this price it's a no brainer imo.

Does one actually need to have a specific necessity (like rehabbing from an elbow surgery or something specific for this machine), or does a doctor just provide a general directive to be healthy (that can be used for this or a bike or a rower, etc.)?
I got mine this morning. Box was banged up, etc but looked OK. I've been running around all day so I haven't opened it yet. I'll looking for instructions for building it online... since the included instructions are reportedly really bad
Have you ever used a Concept Skierg? If so, how does it compare?
Thanks.
Check out the link to video by Coop (Garage Gym Reviews, Budget Gym Co-op) I posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtMvjEXOtEU He compares it directly to the Ski-erg. It as in the Lavaflow which this one looks like
Here's a thread on the video by Coop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtMvjEXOtEU
The thread talks about replacing the monitor with a Concept 2 monitor.
Also how returns are done with the company and not taking it back to Walmart
I got mine and it's all assembled. Looks to be working well. There's a few... oddities but all good so far.
There's a shocking lack of washers. Also, a surprising number of screws, etc left over. Some types I've never even used. I'm guessing they are for some part of the pulley system.
My Ski machine arrived today and the packaging was intact. I unpackaged and separated the pieces. There was no hardware or instructions. Fedex is coming by Wed to pick it up. I tried calling Balancefrom but the mailbox was full. I used the online message tool but I anticipate a similar lack of response to what other Walmart reviewers have posted. Best of luck to everyone else. I need to go put the box back together.
Mine arrived yesterday. I think I got all the hardware but the instructor are useless and the washer/nuts don't make sense. I think I can still put it together but haven't figured it out.
Did any of you get a bunch of concrete expansion bolts? here's a pic of the hw that came with mine.
Got mine today, box was a little banged up but everything was good inside. Mine did come with the wall mount, which seems to be the same part used to connect the wooden base.
I only used the smallest screws to put all the frame and pieces together and used my own screws to mount to wall.
I followed the concept 2 YouTube but did have to remove the bottom plate and back clamp thing that's used to put the base on.
For $200 I'm happy, feels solid and will get used.
