This ski machine has some negative reviews, mostly related to packaging and also supposedly lousy instructions. The unit itself gets nice reviews.

I got the real thing, Concept2 Skierg. Also paid $1200 for it. Worth every penny. I used it to prepare for Hyrox races in Anaheim and Vancouver. Have another in Vegas in Feb.

FyI, get a letter of medical necessity from your provider and you can use HSA funds and reimburse yourself for it.

I bought this around Black Friday. Instructions do suck I ended up watching a tutorial on how to put concept 2 so erg together and it was pretty easy.

I paid ~250 for it and it's been worth every penny so far. I use it for warm ups and just do the interval settings it has. I can't comment much else on the actual metrics or w.e it uses as I don't care and don't use it.

If you want a ski erg that works well and is smooth like concept 2 for this price it's a no brainer imo.

Bought this at $250 and it's worth every penny. Like others have said the instructions are beyond useless, watch a concept2 Skierg instruction video on YouTube instead.

I definitely don't need this but I've been looking for the other one garage gym had done a review for for $300 and had great reviews. This looks to be darn near the same thing as well and even $100 cheaper, how can I not buy it? Slick deals already getting me in trouble in 2026

Does one actually need to have a specific necessity (like rehabbing from an elbow surgery or something specific for this machine), or does a doctor just provide a general directive to be healthy (that can be used for this or a bike or a rower, etc.)?

I bought one. Had thought about getting the C2 SkiErg, but couldn't justify the price.
I don't know if this will work long term, but it's worth noting that this deal is less than the cost of the floor mounting stand for C2 ($220).
So might be worth getting just to try out; if it breaks and /or you want to go for the C2, the floor stand is already there

I've been eyeing the Concept2 SkiErg for some time now . . . tempting.

I just bought the C2 Ski Erg about a month ago, and it has quickly become my favorite cardio workout for a quick blast.
Garage Gym Reviews did a review on the Walmart SkiErg and gave it favorable comments.
Things to consider would be all parts down to the last screw can be replaced on a C2 if anything were to break. Not sure that is the case with the knockoffs.
Also, C2 comes with the PM5 Performance monitor, which is the gold standard in the industry if you want to track your results against the robust community of athletes.
If all you want is a great workout on the cheap, this BalanceFrom is a no brainer.

My chiropractor wrote general statements like increase CV endurance and muscular strength, decreases weight, decrease BP, etc.

I had the C2 version many years ago and it was pretty good, but for $200 I could make do without the PM5 module. In for one, thank you.
