"When you upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, we'll convert any prepaid time you have on Xbox Game Pass or EA Play subscriptions and apply it toward Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at the current conversion ratio, up to a maximum of 36 months.
Xbox Game Pass Essential conversion percentage: 40% of your remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of Xbox Game Pass Essential will convert to 36 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time."
Based on the code conversion chart. for existing GPUltimate, 12 months of GPEssential applied to it becomes 91 days of Ultimate.
However, if you applied 12 months of GPE first, then get GPU, it becomes 146 days.
My question is: am I the only one that think that the prices for the memberships are already on the "expensive" side?
Kids (as far as I know) do not have that amount of money to burn month after month and adult gamers (in theory) do not have time to play all day everyday
Just my honest opinion

Xbox Game Pass Essential is mainly a low cost way to keep Xbox online multiplayer access, with a small library of older games and cloud play on supported devices. It also works as the base tier for conversion to Ultimate, but the conversion math is much less generous now, and stacking old base time before adding Ultimate is the better route. The library is described as limited compared with Premium or Ultimate, and free to play multiplayer games do not need it for online access. The promo code is expired, so this thread is mostly useful for understanding the tier and conversion rules.
Console players who only need online multiplayer, because Essential provides console multiplayer without the larger game library.
Players who want a small library of older games, because Essential includes a limited set of titles that are mostly older and often cheap to buy outright.
Fortnite and other free-to-play players who still want subscription perks, because Essential is unnecessary for online access but can add a few included games and cloud play.
Existing Essential subscribers planning to upgrade later, because loading Essential first before Ultimate can preserve more conversion time.
Players expecting a large, current game catalog, because Essential has a small library and misses many newer releases.
Fortnite-focused players who only want Battle Pass perks, because Ultimate includes those extras while Essential does not.
Gamers who want day-one releases and the broadest library, because Essential lacks the larger Ultimate catalog and launch-day access.
Existing Ultimate subscribers who want a cheap extension, because Essential converts poorly once Ultimate is already active.

Desirable 3rd party titles like Expedition 33 and Blue Prince haven't cycled down to the lower tiers, even after 8+ months. It's only been 4 months for Silksong, but I also doubt that will trickle down.

I gave it a shot, adding in the bing browser, doing searches, etc........doesn't add up to much.
Doing the GPU conversion gets it to about $20 a month.
In reality that's not crazy if you play COD....the additional games are gravy after that.
I think we're all just jaded since we got it for $3 a month for the last 5 years, but the regular price was much more than that.
