Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.

Friendly reminder that this now requires Windows 11 and unfortunately will not work on Windows 10.

Or just do freetaxusa and get the same experience on the web for free. I think state is like $15 if you want to do that through them too

That time of year again. That time to give the same advice: get a local accountant to do your taxes. Not a firm TT bought with trained robots filling out their templates, but an actual human tax accountant. They'll charge you a few hundred bucks. They will also get you a higher return - more than compensating for what you paid them./rant/steps-off-soapbox
If you are a small business owner or own investment properties, probably true. If you are a W-2 employee with some interest and dividends, most likely false - unless you are illiterate and numerically dyslexic.

Going from Deluxe desktop to Premier online is NOT an upgrade --- don't fall for it!
When logged in online, it also says they will e-file 1 Federal and 1 State for free. The state e-file has always been an additional $25 for me in the past when using TurboTax. Definitely seems like an upgrade, and I save $25 for the e-file.

Anyone know if the deluxe version include a state "e-file" or just a printable state?

Really having to do the math whether to go this route (just Deluxe Federal and State) versus direct with TurboTax with its multiple stackable cashback and discount options

As a product Premier Online is inferior to Deluxe Desktop, meaning there are returns that Deluxe Desktop can handle that Premier Online will not (forcing an upgrade to a higher Online version)

Deluxe desktop lets you e-file 5 returns and create an unlimited number "what-if" returns for doing tax planning. If you sign-up for Premier online you only can do one return.

So yes, maybe for your specific situation Premier online is a better deal but overall Premier online is not an upgrade over Deluxe desktop.

The physical card is to prevent you from using Amazon digital credits towards the purchase, otherwise I would imagine some folks would save up credits all year to get TT for free.
Ok, but who cares? If you save up credits shouldn't you be able to use them how you want? And my annoyance is aimed at Amazon, not you friend.

For deluxe desktop (and all desktop versions), state e-filing costs extra unless you live in a state where Intuit is forced to provide free e-filing.

Digital credits can only be used for digital purchases, by combining a physical GC with the digital TT download they effectively block the use of digital credits for this deal.

Yes I agree, Amazon is scummy by doing this intentionally.

As others have pointed out, if you are willing to forego the $10 GC they have another version at the same sale price ($45) without the GC where you can apply digital credits to the purchase - so if you have a ton of credits it would make sense to go with that ASIN instead.

Love how they've screwed the home business folk by charging the most to do the voluntary- not exactly voluntary gov robbery game

TurboTax Deluxe Premier is free when you start the process via the app and then you can continue on the browser if you file before Feb 28th and didn't use TurboTax last year

https://turbotax.intuit.com/perso.../turbotax/

Or just use FreeTaxUSA honestly, so much cheaper and you aren't supporting a business that spends millions lobbying to keep taxes difficult and expensive so they can stay in business

Unless you have a fidelity discount, there are no stackable cashback and discounts that are cheaper. Almost all the portals that have turbotax cashback are only for the online version and not the downloadable so you won't be able to stack.

And walking is so much cheaper than buying a car, and collecting rainwater and drinking it is so much cheaper than buying beverages from a store. Honestly, you people are like a broken record - stop with the TaxFreeUSA already.

And how do you know an accountant is going to do your taxes correctly? The only way you would ever know is if the IRS audits you. We used an accountant a few years ago and then decided to do it ourself the next year and found the accountant made numerous mistakes and cost us penalties.

Don't be me. Make sure you click the correct link I did a link in the app (Amazon isn't on my PC) and got the version without the gift cards for same price Frown . Non refundable so I'm stuck. Also, if you live in a state w/o income tax, there is a deluxe Federal only version for $36.99: https://www.amazon.com/Intuit-Tur...7b738d0INT
