Heads up! Saw this on the bogleheads forum, if you need to buy Turbotax 2025, hold off as it looks like starting on 1/19/26 Costco will have $11 to $20 off Turbotax 2025, Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business with a $10 credit when filing. Refer to the attached image for details.

Costco:
Deluxe:
https://www.costco.com/turbotax-d...10325.html

Deluxe + State:
https://www.costco.com/p/-/turbot...?langId=-1

Premier:
https://www.costco.com/turbotax-p...10244.html

Business:
https://www.costco.com/turbotax-b...14346.html

Home & Business:
https://www.costco.com/turbotax-h...10342.html

Amazon will likely match the Costco price on 1/19/26 and add in a $10 gift card which we have seen over the past few years to match the Costco $10 credit. Suprisingly they didn't have the year end deal this year, guessing they pushed it back to match the Costco date, I will update this post with links once I find the Amazon listing with $10 Gift Card.

I think next year I will just pay a tax person to do my taxes. My girlfriend had more complex taxes (rental property stuff) than me, and her accountant charged $90 to file both federal and two states electronically. Comparing, I paid $55 for this software, $40 for an extra state, and $25x2 to file electronically in two states with TurboTax, which is up from $20 each last year by the way.

So, might be worth looking into a professional to do taxes for you, as my total is $55 more to do my own taxes with only a W-2 and some 1099-INTs. Also, it sucks that free file is income limited on the IRS website (you know, the place I'm paying all these taxes to), as I would love to take advantage of that, and I really don't understand the rationalization (I suppose good lobbying leads to irrational policy, or at least consumer unfriendly policies) to make it income based.

If I purchase from Costco, can the $10 in product credit be used towards state e-file fee?

There was a free for all system being made and in limited release for 2 years. Unfortunately congress decided to cancel the program.

Don't be me. Make sure you click the correct link I did a link in the app (Amazon isn't on my PC) and got the version without the gift cards for same price Frown . Non refundable so I'm stuck. Also, if you live in a state w/o income tax, there is a deluxe Federal only version for $36.99: https://www.amazon.com/Intuit-Tur...7b738d0INT
Thank you! I was looking for home and business and could not find a gift card version on the regular search. I tried some other searches and finally found the one with the gift card.

I believe in order for the software to be shared (allowed up to 5 federal returns), the others would need to sign in with your account/do taxes on your computer, giving you access to their info and vice versa.
I would love to be wrong about this.

Especially in my situation with only a W-2, 1099-INT, and some mortgate interest reporting. These are all public records and the IRS knows exactly what I payed and what I owe or should get back. It's infuriating that I have to compute it all for them, give them the answer they already know, and if I get the answer wrong they can hit me with punitive damages, but if they get it wrong, then no harm no foul.

Yes, up to 5 federal returns, but you have to pay for each state e-file at $25 each.
