I use the 9.6qt plastic for food prepping because the 1.6 qts makes a difference (vs. the 8 qt glass version) and the glass one is pretty awkward because of how heavy it is, although I always use it when prepping anything with red sauce (enchiladas, spaghetti sauce, etc.). I only use the smaller plastic ones when one of the kids is taking leftovers since the chances I get the container back are <50%
Anyway, while I am normally a glass snob for these, I do use the 9.6 qt plastic ones in my main rotation as the exception, and there is even a use for the smaller plastic ones
