And nope, not weird at this point. CDs fell out of fashion because we've been sold the idea that it's better rent our media than own it (streaming services). Vinyl is really for collectors. It's hugely inconvenient, generally not better audio quality than CD, literally damaged every time it's played, and yet people collect it because it's unique. CDs (and cassettes) are making a comeback though.

how did they fit that many songs in a cd. the max i could fit in is like 16 full songs. 700mb.

My daughter in college said that cds were making comeback, so maybe you are right

It depends on the quality you put the songs on the CD. 19 doesn't sound bad to me. Making a CD in data disc form you can literally put 100 songs in mp3 format. Most CDs that have 20 plus songs won't fill a CD. Looks like CDs I I rip from are only around 400mb of space after rip, and I use FLAC in the most generous settings as space is not an issue to me. I use EAC to rip CDs I've had since the 90s. I won't get into CD vs Vinyl, but I prefer CD. Vinyl is nice for artwork and maybe collectability. My 2019 Camry plays from USB so I have maybe a 128gb drive, and that will max out the radio's capabilities. I think the radio can do 1000 folders/CDs, and 10,000 files/songs. Most CDs have more than 10 songs so you'll have to be picky.

forget about mp3. we are talking about cd audio here. and no. its not about the audio quality. its about its length in min. you could only do 74 min max. some really expensive "modern" ones could max to 80 min. on avg each song is 5 min. so 19 songs in a standard cd is really overkilled.

I've ripped probably around 850 CDs. Quality absolutely matters, and also song length. If we're talking tracks there is Tool Undertow which has 69 tracks. Most are dead air until you reach the secret song at 69. I imagine you could really check out the limit looking at compilations, but by a quick look sees probably 20-25 song on most the discs I had. Looks like Four Tops anthology 2 disc set has 27 and 21 tracks. Both are around 530mb ripped to FLAC. Give Em the boot II has 22 tracks, but only 450mb in FLAC. I'm not going to pop in radom CDs to check density for your pleasure.

Well, the really big thing was DRM-free music. Until that point iTunes still promoted ripping CDs alongside the iTunes Store's DRM music.

Both you owned, and Apple even offered a one time fee to remove the DRM and upgrade the music quality.

This entire collection is 79 minutes long, so that checks out. Each song is obviously not averaging 5 minutes in this case.
