Bought one of these last year, they work fine nothing to special except a desire to use it as a taser.

You are better off with a gas lighter. These may have a metal tip casing but the arc generator tips are mostly plastic.

The electrodes get gummed up with candle wax and soot and it's difficult to clean. I prefer the crème brûlée torches to light things.

It does for these type of things. It's hard to compared to can type torch. Typically people buying the electric ones so they don't have buy the can or refillable items.

Yes you could but you must ensure you aren't touch any metal with the prongs otherwise you will get a slight shock.

i have a cheap one given away as a swag gift, and honestly, it hasn't been too bad with candles for me. mine has only a single mechanism (i.e. push out and turn on all together, which makes it more annoying to clean as I have to wait till its fully discharged to be able to easily clean the contacts. This with its 2 stage mechanism (push out and then press power), would seemingly be easier to clean regularly.

I have this exact lighter and it's pretty solid. If you get wax on the nodes, just keep it lit or a few seconds. It's reliable and I've only had to charge it once in the year I've had it.

I use this several times a week on my old gas stove. Cost effective alternative to the long neck lighters I was previously using.

Same. Very useful for that.

Ours got the same way when using to let kids light fireworks

So according to the price history, this is the most expensive that it's been in over a year?
