my brain conflated blum and bloom and first wondered, why is a horror studio selling knives? Then was like, "eh, I guess that can make sense?" Then was like oh, bloom, not blum.

From QA:

I see a coupon dropping it to $15. Not knowing anything about the brand I checked it out. Apparently, Oprah likes the brand (for cookware anyway) FWIW. It's actually made by Gibson Overseas which is a huge manufacture, not considered a high end manufacturer per-se. That doesn't mean it's bad though.

As far as this Santoku, the reviews are actually pretty good. The shape of the blade looks proper for a Santoku. Olive wood for the handle, interesting choice. They do say it's forged using German steel even if manufactured in China. "If" the steel is German that would make this a really good value. Some reviewers claim it compares well to their Wusthoff knives.

Here's a link to their Amazon page https://www.amazon.com/stores/pag...B0D4B55VXJ There's a couple other knives on sale, but the Santoku is definitely the best deal. This may just be a SD after all if looking for a decent Santoku.

"German Steel" is just a designation for a particular metal formula. It's on the lower end but decent for cooking type tasks. Okay edge retention and corrosion resistance. The name is kinda like "German Silver" which is not silver just a moniker.
