looks like only the 100 mbps internet is free- and "forever" is as long as you have their cell service.
was so happy when alta fiber came to my block so i could be rid of spectrum- they were my only option and charged twice as much for cable that was a fraction of the speed.

Spectrum was alright for me. I had their 1gb/40mb service. Speeds were pretty consistently +20% (1.2gb if connected to a multigig interface, so I suspect it's 100mb -> 120mb; 500mb -> 600mb, but whatever you have for upload, that's it). Unfortunately, for me and them, their HFC/High Split/whatever isn't really being rolled out for my service area for at least another year. The abysmal upload made it an easy decision to switch over to a newly run fiber provider for my area: MetroNet, which was bought by T-Mobile and re-branded to T-Fiber.
Yes, MetroNet's peering is crap (admittedly, I am hopeful for the future with T-Mobile merger), BUT, any speedtest I run to any provider in my state is at least 10x higher (normally in the 600-800mb range) on the upload side than Spectrum was, and for about the same price. Download speeds are better, but not 2x better (normally in the 1.6-1.8gb range). Maybe if/when T-fiber/MetroNet drops a speedtest server in Central Florida it'll be different, but that'll just show I'm getting linespeeds, and not peering utilization.
I am sad that I won't be able to take advantage of Spectrum's free cell lines anymore, nor their absolutely nuts trade-in deals for Samsung phones, but they seemed to start clamping down, so I'm OK with moving on. Obviously, the reason Spectrum is offering this sort of deal is to make you as a customer "sticky" to them, meaning it's more of a hassle to move on from them if/when other providers come to your area.
Final note: Spectrum's cell service runs on Verizon towers, so if Verizon sucks for you, it'll suck on Spectrum, too.
