Received a work phone and contemplating just leaving my personal phone at home and having this for personal calls. Anyone ever do that?
Yes, super convenient to make and take calls and texts without a phone. It can be difficult to hear the tiny speaker with moderate+ ambient noise though.

If the 50s are quickly approaching causing your eyes to focus less effectively, this watch is a game changer from the Series versions! Or at least that is what a friend told me. Ha!

Call quality isn't great. It's basically speaker phone with bad hardware. It works in a pinch (like the rare phone call when out on a run) but I wouldn't replace my phone with it 24/7. One thing that would make it slightly more doable is AirPods. But you'll likely find yourself juggling devices and Bluetooth connections between those devices to make it work in an unnatural manner. One final consideration is that many people use a phone for a lot more than a phone and there's lots of personal things that I'd never have on a work phone. Pictures, apps, personal email, etc. You could get fired for that data, you could lose access to it if you unexpectedly lose your job, or you could just expose personal information to people who can likely go through your device at will. It's just not a great situation.

When I walk my dog, I leave my phone at home and rely entirely on my Apple Watch Ultra. I listen to podcasts and take phone calls exclusively through my AirPods, and it works amazingly well.

Honestly part of the reason is to not use my work phone other than for work. Like maybe for GPS when I need it

I guess maybe for some people but I don't see, no pun intended LOL, how a small difference in size compared to the bigger series watches would help that much. But I've never did a direct comparison with the same watch face so I'm not sure. I have seen other people wearing the Ultra and it didn't seem much easier to read.
