Why does the ad make it look like it attaches like a Magsafe charger, when it doesn't?

I'm confused about what this charger does and its' compatibility.
The product page says that it "recognizes" your iPhone (limited models), but what does that mean? Is that to just list the name on the screen? It also says "Universal Compatibility", which is expected for a USB C charger, but then lists limited Apple and Samsung devices, so what is it about those specific devices that's different than others devices? Does it charge them differently?
Outside that, it seems to be a slick little charger that provides much more info than any other charger I've seen, and seems to have the ability to change charging modes manually. I just wish they were a little more clear on feature compatibility.

Rosewill (Newegg's brand) sells on of these for $30 but it's 70w total power. Just got one from Best Buy when they sent me a $10 coupon and it seems well made so far. It looks like this one is noticeably smaller as the Rosewill has a built in retractable USB-C cable + USB A and C ports.

Those don't sound as fancy as OP. Spec-wise probably better for the value though.

So this give you more detail info if charging newer Apple devices but for non-Apple devices, doesn't provide much detail?

Their other 45w charger is smaller, lighter and comes with a usb-c cable. I don't see the value in this unless you ALWAYS do wired charging. Magsafe FTW and the cheaper 45w when you occasionally need it.

Traditional USB charges at 5V. USB "PD" is for "power delivery" and can deliver up to 48V. This is how laptops etc can charge with any kind of speed over USB. To deliver these higher voltages, there's a handshake between the device and charger. If you were in a marketing department, you could say that your charger "recognizes your iPhone" so that it can charge at these higher speeds. ...so afaik ALL PD chargers "recognize your iPhone"

Riding the iPhone's coattails. I guess it was to show speed.

That's an interesting charger. Thanks for the heads-up. It's a little larger for certain, but a lot more capable (and technically $5 cheaper). I ordered one just now directly from Newegg.

This isn't a PD capable charger. It doesn't say PD anywhere. To be honest, I'm not that impressed with it and that's saying something because I like almost everything Anker sells. But if you look carefully at the pictures, this is nothing more than a run-of-the-mill 45W charger with a cute screen; it's not PD capable so it's not for laptops (and they don't show pictures of laptops anywhere); the "recognition" aspect is only for a limited number of phones and ipads specifically; and it only charges the iPhones at 45W at the very beginning of a dead battery (0-20%). From 20% to 80% it's charging at 30W. So this doesn't look that remarkable actually.

It is, they're just branding it differently. If it wasn't PD, then it would require pulling 9A at 5V to get 45W, about the same as a toaster. You're not getting that kind of current through a phone charger cable

I'm not certain enough to say you're wrong. You may well be correct. To be fair, their previous 30W Nano charge doesn't explicitly say PD either, but they advertise it charging MBAs and a host of other devices. They do make some small reference to PD, but for the cable, not the charger itself. Like I said, I'm not certain. But in my experience, if they can use this for other purposes, they would say it. They love acronyms. But this does not indicate USB PD or PD 3.0 or PPS (for Samsung). But they do say it's TUV certified. Just odd.

1 port 45w for $30. And it's a pre-order and FP? What am i missing? Is it the useless display that commands high price?
