I have the older gen and they work great. They topped off at 500 degrees, so 1000 seems better. My only wish is that the case had a screen with temp readings as well. While being able to see the temp on your phone is nice, sometimes a quick glance at a dedicated temp display would be quicker/easier

Try looking for this at your local Costco. Mine had the two probe version on clearance for 59.97. YMMV
