The Steam Deck OLED stands out as a compact, premium handheld with strong game compatibility, unique trackpads, and an OLED screen that is the main visual upgrade. The open SteamOS setup makes it easy to tinker, stream, and even expand storage later, with 1TB models getting an anti glare display and the option to add a large microSD card or swap the SSD. The main knocks are its chunky size, heavier feel, and the 1280x800 resolution, which can make text look soft. Battery life also gets called out as the one area that could be better, making it a strong fit if those tradeoffs do not bother you.

Still have an OG deck, would love to upgrade, but gonna wait until they finally step up from 1280x800. I have a gaming PC, so can stream any game at high settings, but text still sucks to look at.If another sale on the logitech G-cloud bring the price even lower Ill sell my deck and get that.
Yo check out Apollo/Moonlight. I never have any issues with text, but maybe that's just the kinda junk I'm playing

I'd say glossy is preferred but it depends on your use case. Anti-glare/etched has that slightly frosty matte look, appears more washed out, but does better outdoors and in brightly-lit areas.Glossy is more vibrant, colors really pop, deeper blacks, but it's reflective so better indoors/darker environments. To me personally, OLED should always be glossy. And like the fella said, if needed you can always slap a matte screen protector and get pretty close.

Congrats to all who have purchased this. I got my refurbished unit over a year ago and I love it. One of the best purchases I've made the past few years. It's also taken my appetite away from the Switch 2. I was sure I was going to get the Switch 2 when it launched, but I just lost interest and never got one. The Steam Deck gives me plenty to do.

Is glossy the preferred screen?
Antiglare was the higher model, but it's just personal preference esp if you get a screen protector anyways

You should definitely not do that if you are sensitive to latency. The G Cloud has 12ms decode time which is a 3x increase over SteamOS or Windows handhelds. I owned one briefly and sold it because of that. The light weight is nice but it's not worth trading it for only emulation capabilities and a subpar streaming experience.

It's why I like my Legion Go S, it has the simple but tunable SteamOS and uses AMD hardware just like the Deck. Even Decky works fine so you can tune it just like with the Deck. Upgrading from my 256GB LCD Deck to the Go S was surprisingly worth it, the screen is noticeably larger, brighter, higher res (1200p) and more vibrant. It weighs a bit more but the ergos are subjectively better than the Deck so I don't notice that too much. Since you have a good PC you can also take advantage of high refresh and get an even smoother experience.

Battery life is similar at the same wattages, but it charges super-fast compared to my Deck. As for performance, I think the Z2 Go is not at the level of the Z1E, but it's still faster than the Deck. It offers a noticeable improvement and can keep up with the increase in resolution in both lighter and heavier games. I played Inside which is not graphically demanding but typical of indies one might play on Deck and it breezed through it at low power for 3-4 hours. Not going to talk about the game itself since the ending was not that great. It's the best option right now and probably the near future given how RAM pricing has likely driven up costs of the Cube and could do the same for the Deck 2...

I'd pick this up in a heartbeat if I didn't already have the OG 512 LCD: I love this thing! If you PC game I would absolutely recommend a Steamdeck of any model (plus you can always upgrade the drive later).
