They are more than smart enough to use them, so long as they trust you and the environment. We have a few cats that avoid the boxes because they know its human made, but most of them have picked out "their" box and stick to it.

I thought about buying it but even with that price and I don't have a plug outside for the heater. I thought about buying it because it's been under 20 degrees a few nights and I worry about her. But still, I do not have plug outside and if she would acclimate to this house.
