Charcoal bowl too small to be able to arrange coals in a snake pattern is a big blow. It would help if it came with a flat plate instead, but not the bottom plate which would be damaged by the fire in no time. Speaking of which, is there actually a bottom plate or is the smoker's bottom missing entirely allowing the air to enter unimpeded? that is one ow the few ways to interpret the information about controlling temperature only by opening and closing the air flow dampers on the top side.
