$124.xx full synthetic - $25 + tax. Local auto service shop charge $64.99 + tax. Learned my lesson last year. Call and ask retail price before you go. It's not a good deal for me in my area.

It's insane how none of these chains put standard pricing information online in advance.
I had to figure out from google reviews how much things cost.
In contrast, atleast my dealership coupons tell me the cost beforehand.

100% agree. The Ram dealership I bought my truck from charges me $75 for 7 quarts of Mobil One 5W-20. Usually in and out in 20 minutes, though they require appointments. But as soon as my truck says "oil change due", it automatically notifies the dealership through Uconnect and they're calling me within 48 hours to schedule an appointment.
That's sick. It took me a while to realize these lube shops charged such a premium. I used to pay about $125 for 6.5qts full synthetic when I had my V8 Infiniti. I finally learned I could get it done at my mechanic for less than $100. Substantially less if they were running a coupon.

there are service specials everywhere $45+ car wash. Why even waste time and effort on non-existent profit and time saving?

Please tell me your car takes more than 5qt because that price is crazy
2005 Toyota Sienna. It doesn't take more than 5 qt. I was shocked because another location I visited a year before was $89.xx. I didn't ask the price before I "assumed" it should be in a similar price range but I was so wrong. My experience tells me different Valvoline locations charge different. If you find one that charges $85-$100 range before $25 coupon, it still okay. But since I found this local auto service shop charges only $69.xx, I don't even watch for any Valvoline coupon anymore. I came here to let people know to check the price before you go to any Valvoline oil change location.

Most apartments don't allow you to do any work on your vehicle.

It usually take less than 10 mins at Valvoline "drive through", you pay for the convenience
Understood. Doesn't mean it's worth the value. It was $89.xx a year before at another location so not sure what changed to this new location. My local auto service shop just need an appointment and it's done in less 1 hour and it's only 3 miles from my home.

They don't maintain the web page so it will cause more issues for them to put a price online.

It depends. I tried it a few times before. But I couldn't get the drain plug loose because I don't have the right tool to do it. I couldn't get the oil filter to loose either. Secondly, the space under the car is very tight with one jack. It became a safety issue if I try to loose the plug or filter too hard. It's not hard but it's not for everyone and it's not for every single car model either.

Walmart was $55 + tax for me back in October. Was in and out in half an hour.

Thanks for the info. My local Walmart prices are:

Premium synthetic oil* $64.88 (Valvoline)
Full-synthetic oil* $58.88 (Mobil 1, Castrol, Pennzoil)
Quaker State synthetic oil* $46.88

Are you sure they will:
Use correct viscosity oil?
Not use recycled oil?
Fill oil to proper level?
Replace the filter with a quality filter?
Or replace the oil filter at all?
Not damage the splash guard or any of the fasteners/ screws?
Replace the drain plug and tighten properly?
Replace the drain plug washer?
Not strip the drain plug?

Now here's the bigger question: how will you know?

I will say that Valvoline is pretty transparent. Their whole premise is that you get to stay in your car and watch them do it. They also walk over to the window periodically and show you what they're doing. But it's not worth what they're asking.

Really? A company which made 1.7 Billion last year and manages to update their coupons regularly cannot manage to update an excel sheet of pricing per service per location?

It's willful on their part for sure.

I wish Valvoline also did a coupon for DIYers to buy their own oil. I feel like the Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Deals have been dry the last couple of years
