Community Reviews

This refurbished Latitude 5480 is mainly a sturdy, business class laptop for basic everyday use, with the Latitude build quality, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and Thunderbolt 3 standing out. The older 7th gen i5 is the big limitation, since it is not officially supported for Windows 11 and may need hacks that can complicate updates and drivers. Battery life and long term reliability are also concerns on an 8 to 9 year old refurb. It makes the most sense for light tasks, Linux, or plugged in use.

  • The Latitude build quality can support long-term daily use when paired with a Linux setup and BIOS updates.

  • The 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD configuration can cover everyday tasks without immediately feeling constrained.

  • Thunderbolt 3 support can enable an eGPU workflow for an LLM-agent style console use case.

  • The laptop can fit legacy x86 software needs where ARM-based systems cannot run required applications.

  • The i5-7300U is not officially supported for Windows 11, and bypassing can lead to future update and driver issues.

  • The CPU age and limited core/thread count can make the machine feel underpowered for more demanding needs by 2026.

  • Refurbished hardware from this era can suffer from aging components like batteries, hinges, and fans that affect day-to-day feel.

  • The deal can be less attractive because newer used options with newer processors may appear around similar pricing.

At this price point, this is mostly not a longevity run...
No Doubt...It's $165 and a fine Laptop at that price point.....
Non-Tecnical Buyers would have no ideas that this CPU was released 9 years ago and does not officially support Win 11.

MOST LIKELY.....It will be fine until it needs the next media release update in a couple years.
If it had been an 8xxx series instead of 7xxx, they could possibly be fine a little longer.

Not a thumb downs on the deal.....With 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD it will get someone by just fine.

If the cpu isn't supported, did woot shoe horn it into this Dell laptop?
I would assume either their supplier did or the specs are wrong about Windows 11.

There is a big difference between used and refurbished. Also, there's no point in posting an OOS product.
What has been done to this to make it better than "used"? Asking to know, I hope it's not just cleaning it out before the sale haha

FYI: you can find the NEW ASUS VIVO book(s) with an i3 1215U for around $159 now day, which outperforms an i7 7600U by 178% with a better iGPU and much better efficiency.
You're really paying for the Latitude build quality. Install a Linux distro, update the BIOS, and now it's a good little daily PC.

In 2026, any 2 cores 4 threads CPU is just not enough.

You can use it to watch video or things like log into your online banking but that's it.

I dont have this laptop but I have a i7-7500U + 8GB + 256GB SSD laptop.

Can anyone recommend a laptop with LARGER screen bezels? The one inch bezels on this unit aren't big enough for me! /s
Dell Latitude laptops are tanks. My last one lasted 12 years.

Not an amazing deal. That CPU is nearly 10 years old.

Not being able to update to Windows 11 is actually a blessing in disguise...

Also, this laptop is good enough for 99% usage, with great battery life to boot. 16GB ram is also no slouch.
