This Fender and Squier drop is strongest on Classic Vibe electrics and a few acoustic and amp bargains, with the J Mascis Jazzmaster and the $279 Classic Vibe Strats drawing the most praise for value. The Classic Vibes are described as well made, sounding excellent, and often comparable to pricier Fender Player models, while the HSS Strat stands out for harder rock or metal. The J Mascis Jazzmaster is a different take on a Jazzmaster, with a more stable trem, Gibson style bridge, and P90 style pickups. Main caveats are that several items sold out quickly, the Tele Bass may need pickup swaps, and some Fender acoustics are a no go for buyers who dislike the headstock shape.
Classic Vibe 50s/60s Strats are reported to arrive ready to play with Alnico 5 pickups sounding excellent.
The J Mascis JM is described as a steal that punches well above its weight at the deal price.
The Monterey E is reported to offer built-in electronics plus a $13 onboard tuner that cannot be forgotten.
The Classic Vibe guitars are reported to stay desirable over time, with one Lake Placid Blue CV SSS bought for about $210 shipped and later sold for $400.
The deal update lists free shipping and an applied checkout code that keeps multiple Fender and Squier items available at discounted prices.
The Squier Tele Bass is described as a good deal that may require a pickup swap, and it is sold out.
The Fender-branded "Classic Vibe" listing is reported to actually be a Squier, which could confuse buyers.
Nearly all items are reported as sold out now, making the deal effectively dead unless purchased earlier.
The J Mascis JM is described as different from a traditional Jazzmaster because the moved-up trem reduces behind-the-bridge resonance.

Even though most of my guitars have been Fenders and Squiers, I've never liked that shape headstock on any guitar, and on an acoustic, it's even worse.
I don't like Gibsons any better, and don't bother to ask about a Dean headstock.
I like six in a line, but that bulbous Fender knob on the end looks dumber every time I look at it.
I guess I'm really, really picky about headstocks and simply tolerate them when I have to in order to get the guitars I like.
According to interviews of FMIC execs, those CV Squiers now take the place of what used to be Fender's entry level guitars, quality-wise. Fender has moved a bit more upmarket, and the Classic Vibes were added in the space left when they did.
They're probably the best value by far in music right now.
