This has been the price for this kit for years. DCD777 is a very entry level drill that is capable for around the house work, but will not get you very far if you're doing anything beyond basic work (you can't drill into concrete with this, for example)

The batteries are usually 1.7ah batteries.

It has 15 clutch settings + drill mode, and two speeds. There are some nice features such as a plastic chuck cover, and an LED light (however there are no light settings like on some of their more recent drills).

If you need something that's affordable for basic tasks around the house, not a bad drill to get, but this has been the "price" of this kit for many years at this point, and is not really a "deal". I'd actually argue that if you buy it for more than this, you should return it.

This fits my bill I guess. I can't think of an instance where I am going to be drilling a concrete. Don't you need a hammer drill for concrete anyway?

Great info. What's the step up from this?

Atomic drills would be the next step (DCD793 OR DCD794, I forget exactly), the next DCD800/DCD805/DCD806 (XR series), then the 3 speed XR drills DCD998/DCD999 & top dog DCD1007
