A "cup" (only when measuring rice) refers to a Japanese rice cup which is approximately the same volume as 3/4 cup in U.S. measurement. 1 U.S. cup (8 fluid ounces) is about 1.3 rice cups.

For those who care, a stainless steel cooking pot version does exist (i.e., not nonstick). It's just not on sale right now.
AROMA Select Stainless Rice Cooker, ARC-753SG

It's currently $41.99 at Amazon [amazon.com] (3camels say it's been as low as $28.48 within the past year).
The red version is currently on sale for $34.78 at Walmart [walmart.com].

Community Reviews

This compact AROMA rice cooker is praised for simple, reliable everyday rice cooking and long service life, with multiple reports of it still working well after five to fifteen years and even handling travel. The included nonstick inner pot is a practical bonus, especially at this price, since replacement pots can cost nearly as much as the whole unit. The main caveats are that the 3 cup uncooked capacity may be optimistic and the power cord connection can become finicky over time. A small, durable pick if you want a basic cooker rather than a premium bowl material.

  • The rice cooker has reportedly worked for over 5 years with normal cooking.

  • The embedded price history suggests the current price may be competitive versus recent months.

  • The rice cooker has reportedly lasted for nearly 15 years of use.

    jackharvest

  • The cooker can be used as a spare because it includes an inner nonstick pot.

    HeyGuysChrisFixHere

  • The 3-cup uncooked capacity claim may be overstated because two cups of uncooked jasmine rice nearly reach the top.

    ItzSublime

  • The power cord connection to the pot can become sensitive and occasionally lose connection.

    vicsta48

  • The inner pot material may not satisfy buyers who want a pure stainless steel cooking bowl.

    PeteyTheStriker

  • Price tracking suggests the $17.99 price may be higher than a recent $12 period.

This has been always this price though. I wish I can just buy a bunch of inner pot for cheap but I just can't find them for a good price.
Well, $18 for a whole new rice cooker that comes with the inner nonstick pot seems like it costs less than just the cost of a replacement nonstick inner pot for any rice cooker, so you might as well buy this as a spare right now and you'll get both a replacement pot that you want as well as a spare rice cooker main body.

I bought this about 5 years ago and it was about this same price. It has actually been this price many times since then as it is still in my Amazon saved items that I previously bought and it has often fluctuated between $18-$25 quite often for the past 5 years.
Me too, I bought this about 5 years ago with about the same price. I brought this with me on travelling for work and some leisure trips. Still working and just gave it to my son for a ranger job.
Just bought another for a replacement. Thanks, and repped, OP

I got this, have had it for over a year, works fine. Would I get it again, NO. I wish I looked around for one with a pure stainless steel bowl instead of whatever the inner pot is made of.

If you are into these types of cooker and want to splurge a little, look into Tatung rice cooker, a household brand made in Taiwan. Stainless steel and can last forever.
