In general:
If a promotion calls for BUY X number of items and receive Walgreens Cash (as in this case), you can pay using Walgreens Cash for the deal and still earn back Walgreens Cash.
If a promotion calls for SPEND $ amount of money and receive Walgreens Cash, then you have to pay out of pocket at least that amount of SPEND $ to get the Walgreens Cash.
