Project Farm just recently rated a very similar version of this bag as #3 Best.

In fact the red version of the bag he tested is also on 50% off sale for $50 (reg. $100).

It looks like the women's version is described as being big enough for 16" and men's version description mentions 15". Kind of weird as men's versions dimensions are 11.6'' x 7.5'' x 19.3'' (29.5 cm x 19.1 cm x 49 cm), slightly bigger than women's dimensions of 10.8'' x 7.5'' x 18.9'' (27.4 cm x 19.1 cm x 48 cm). I think TNF web designer messed up the descriptions.

I ordered the borealis the other day and now I'm wondering if this is better. Only slightly larger, but has an extra compartment it appears. But no bungee system

for better or worse TNF gear has been tried and true for me, from winter layers to EDC backpacks. only as an adult do I consider osprey to be my QOL change regarding this. TNF Recon got me through high school and I'd recommend it.

I have a older version which was stolen, then I got this newer old. I mainly use it for work and as a EDC, but for travel and trying to pack a weeks worth of clothes is not going to happen. Very good quality all around and I like the slimmer look compare to the older models. Cup sleeves on the side are small though so if you carry a huge bottle, it may not fit. Soda can sizes are fine, with a inch more room, but anything larger is not going to fit.

i had the same concern, funny enough, there's a diy to add your own bungee system from amazon for $10. u route it through the loops for the carabiner and it works just as great.
