This HP Omen Max stands out as a high powered gaming laptop with an RTX 5070 Ti, Core Ultra 7 255HX, and a 140 watt GPU, and the configurable 64GB memory and Wi Fi 7 options make it more appealing as a desktop replacement. The stronger build and cooling are framed as a step above some competing gaming laptops, and the OLED upgrade is tempting if the price lands right. The main knocks are the 16 inch Full HD panel and the 512GB SSD, which feel undersized for the class. Deal pricing also proved unstable, with price changes and cancellations tied to a promotional error.
Common Questions (4)
Not reliably. Several orders were cancelled after HP said a promotional error occurred and they could not honor the original price, and some buyers received only partial refunds or had the laptop cancelled while the accessory still shipped. In some cases the final outcome was a cancelled laptop with the accessory kept.
Yes. The base 16" FHD+ IPS panel is widely criticized, while the configurable 16" WQXGA 2560x1600 IPS option adds 500 nits and 100% sRGB for $70, and the OLED option adds 240Hz with HDR 500 nits for $130. The higher-resolution panels are the practical upgrade if you want a sharper screen.
Yes. The configuration can be bumped to 64GB RAM for a negligible amount, and buyers also chose a 1TB SSD instead of the base 512GB drive. The 512GB SSD is considered too small for a 2026 gaming laptop, so the storage upgrade is the more practical choice.
Yes. The default Intel Wi‑Fi 6E AX211 can be upgraded to an Intel Wi‑Fi 7 BE200 card for $10 more. That makes the wireless upgrade one of the cheapest configurable add-ons.

Hoping it actually shipped for someone since it seems like both AMD/Intel models were cancelled.
