incredible price on a triband wifi 7 router..... You dont need anything but this for most households. Could not find many reviews of it unfortunately, but the slightly better BE9700 has reviewed very well, linked it below since they should be pretty identical. The only real difference between the 9500 and 9700 is the 9500 has 2 1Gbps ports instead of 3 2.5Gbps ports on the 9700. Also the 5Ghz band is slightly faster on the 9700.

I have this and it's been doing very well. I got 1.4G speed on wifi.

It gets pretty hot after running for long time which I assume is what caused connection issue for some. I left it on a wired rack so it can cool from both top and bottom.

Tri-band does not explicitly mean 6 GHz.
From the product spec: "9.5 Gbps Wi-Fi 7 Speeds: Enhanced with 6 GHz and 320 MHz ultra-wide channels, BE9500 offers impressive speeds of up to 5765 Mbps on the 6 GHz band, 2722 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, and 1032 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band."

I would figure even with bad reviews it's worth a shot because of Costco's generous returns policy

Tri band can also mean it has a second 5ghz band instead of 6ghz. I haven't really seen it often on wifi 7 routers much but it was common on tri band WiFi 6 routers.
usually tri-band includes 6ghz.

I heard TP-Link device send data to China. Has this issue resolved?
TP-Link has split from and no longer has any affiliation with TP-LINK Technologies Co.,Ltd., which serves the mainland Chinese market (i.e., "TP-Link China"). Despite having similar names, these companies have entirely different ownership, management, and operations. The US arm is based out of Irving CA.

just run opnsense or openwrt if you are paranoid.
It's not listed on openwrt's list of compatible devices when I just checked

Of course it's not. Just get other devices that support it

My router & modem are both 8-10 years old. If I upgrade to this router, what do I need to upgrade my modem to?

I'm still using my Airport Extreme from about 2015, 10-15 devices connected to it at all times for a decade including Apple TVs, cell phones laptops, hasn't failed me yet!
