Question: Why are 720p TVs even in production in 2026?

Mobile streaming? Secondary rooms? Budget TV? To use with older devices?

I wonder the same thing. I guess if you want higher resolution with a small form you need to buy a computer monitor and a tv tuner, or with everything being so streaming friendly you could get a Walmart onn box for $20.

From what I've read online, they produce the panels in a much bigger size and then cut them down. So a 4k 65" tv panel would perfectly cut up into 4 32" 1080p screens. I'm guessing these are slightly larger panels that had imperfections so they cut them into a smaller resolution? The math works out to about 85" at 4k res, unless they're getting more than 4 per square (they could almost fit 3-wide)
It's all about mass production and them getting 4-6 tv's out of a single 85" panel is probably worth it for them even with a smaller demand especially when they can use imperfect panels.

With a smaller screen, so you really notice the resolution difference? Better resolution is very apparent with larger screens. And as the poster above shows, it's a matter of using larger screens by cutting them down. I guess if this resolution isn't right for you, just like any other deal you aren't interested in, you can ignore it and move on.

Nah, you can still have an opinion on something even if it isn't positive. Resolution matters depending on size AND distance from the screen. A 1080p 27" monitor can suffer from "screen door effect" because people sit 3 or 4 feet away from their monitor. If you sit far away from a tiny screen then, no, resolution doesn't mean so much. This seems like a bedroom tv size, and people will sit on the edge of their bed to play a game. I wouldn't want anything less that 1080p. They sell these because it's cheap enough people will impulse buy it, but they do sell small tvs with better resolution and refresh rates. Probably a year ago I bought a 43" Philips 4k 144hz android tv from Walmart for $248, 43PUG7674.

I'm using a 32" 720P Samsung TV that's ten years old as one of my monitors at work. I just need to monitor a couple things from across the room and it does that perfectly. If it died today, yup, sure seems $72 is it's replacement price.

Yes screens can get cut up, but why are you correlating resolution with screen size? They can economically produce 4k screens in any size.

I can tell the difference between resolutions on my phone. Screen size has absolutely nothing to do with it. People like you really need to stop talking about things you know nothing about.
The average middle aged person cannot tell 1080 from 720 on a TV this small from the average watching distance assuming they are watching TV and not gaming . Screen size absolutely comes into play and you are not as tech savvy as you think. Also noteworthy, cable TV providers still broadcast in 1080i/720p so your opinion is not shared by "legacy" input source users. You can tell resolution differences on your phone because, wait for it, distance from your eyeballs. Screen size and viewing distance are the two main factors when determining ideal PPI. Go ahead and google this and then come back and argue with me.

Between the two (though the other has Google TV, which some may prefer) I'd definitely go for this FHD. Nice price.

That's a 2023 model. The TV in this thread is from their 2024 line.
