Panasonic Eneloop AA batteries stand out for long life, reliable charge retention, and strong performance in high-drain gear like Yale locks, Roku remotes, Xbox controllers, and motion sensor lights. The standard 2100mAh cells are praised for lasting years, with some still working after a decade or more, and the made in Japan packaging adds confidence. The main cautions are price versus IKEA LADDA or other alternatives, and the need for a sensible charger because very fast charging can hurt longevity. The 2450mAh version can also be too thick for some devices, so this is a durable everyday pick if fit and charging speed are handled carefully.

  • These Eneloop AAs can hold charge for years in remotes and locks, including older units.

  • These batteries can be a better long-term value than IKEA LADDA based on charge-count math.

  • These Eneloop AA batteries can last about 4.5 to 5 months per charge in a Yale WiFi lock.

  • A Panasonic pro charger can fully recharge these batteries in about three hours instead of roughly six hours.

  • These batteries can be used safely with Panasonic chargers since Panasonic makes Eneloop.

  • Fast charging can shorten NiMH battery longevity by increasing heat exposure over time.

  • Shipping and checkout can fail for some addresses, while Subscribe & Save may work as a workaround.

  • Some devices may not accept the 2450mAh Eneloop size because it can be slightly thicker.

  • Rechargeable performance in Yale locks can be limited when devices require higher voltage than many NiMH rechargeables provide.

I have an old LaCrosse battery charger, is it still good for these? I haven't used it in a while since my batteries don't really hold a charge.

Any sale on AAA's?

Panasonic should be great. They make Eneloop so I'm sure most (if not all) of their chargers are designed to charge them safely.
It's not about safe charging, it's about maintaining longevity. Hot charging, aka fast smartphone chargers, fast rechargeable battery chargers, reduce longevity because heat is the enemy of batteries. It's why I now only use 1A chargers for my iPhone 15 because after 1 year of using 2A+, the health decreased a lot faster and slowed down a lot when going back to 1A. Everyone should have a packs of rechargeable batteries anyways, don't see why someone would need 'fast' charging double AA's when they should have charged ones ready to go.

I still have my Sanyo branded Eneloops. I buy a pack every now and then to add to the rotation.

Some of mine go all the way back to 2009 or 2010 when I got sick of my Energizers not holding a charge if I went 2 weeks between play sessions on my Wii. I just used a secondary Xbox controller I haven't touched in forever and the batteries were still good.

You in California too? I think it's something to do with the cancer warning that impacts shipping availability. I've had the issue with a few items over the past few years.

What's a good charger for these? Does it matter?
Doesn't matter. I use Energizer/duracel 15 min superfast chargers, cheapo overnight. Fancier opus aio chargers, these take em like champs all work over 20 years. I

This is taken from IKEA USA official website as of January 12th, 2026. The eneloop deal is better.
For anyone going to japan these are like $5 USD pack of 4. Aaa is like $3.

These are great. I use them in my Yale wifi lock, which are notorious for eating through batteries. I get about 4.5-5 months on a charge.
I use these in dumb fingerprint locks and they can last a year pretty easily.

But wouldn't slower charging be better for longevity? I'd rather have the 6 hour charger and just keep a couple extras ready.

Same here. No delivery issue with Tenergy rechargeable batteries. I ended up with bestbuy pricematch.

I'm talking to Amazon and they told me it's a prop 65 (California issue). I pointed out that I can buy the same battery in a 4 or 12 packs at a higher price. So, what they are telling me doesn't make sense. It's only the deal I can't buy for these. They also suggested trying another reseller on their app. I'm now holding while they look into it further. I've had this issue on face wash and plastic bags before. No idea why Amazon struggles with this.
