Really awesome Sony has this.
What would be cool too is if Sony had a splash page about it on the PS5, with an option that would allow people to donate, even $1, towards these controllers for players who need them.
Don't speak for others. Most of us appreciate any help offered, especially something like a special controller after a life altering accident. These would've been great when I wound up at the Rehabilitation Institution of St Louis. There were more young patients than old, and most of them just lost their ability to be physically independent and financially independent.
Boo hoo, you have to pay more for your controller, and it gets stick drift over time. I'd love to have your problems.

Sony's Access Controller is a customizable PS5 accessibility kit built for players who cannot use a standard DualSense, not a cosmetic add on. It stands out for making console gaming more reachable, especially for people with hand injuries, limited finger use, or other physical limitations. The kit is also described as lacking rumble and haptic triggers, which helps explain the lower price. Practical use depends on the game, since titles needing two analog sticks may require two units, while simpler games can work with one.
players who can't use the standard PS5 controller because of physical limitations, since this kit is specifically for people who can't use the regular controller rather than just a customization add-on.
players trying to reduce cost versus a standard DualSense when rumble and haptic triggers aren't required, because commenters noted this kit lacks rumble and haptic triggers and is likely cheaper to produce.
quadriplegic gamers or anyone who can't use their fingers, because accessible controllers were described as "almost non-existent" and this kind of option can make it possible to play again after a life-altering injury.
people with hand injuries or reduced hand function who want to support accessibility innovation (even if they can still use a regular controller), because one commenter said they had multiple surgeries and wanted to back the technology for those who have it worse.
gamers who need a low-button setup or can work around missing controls, because depending on the game you can use D-pad and buttons on one side and sometimes only one analog stick is enough for very few-button games.
people expecting a drop-in way to customize their existing DualSense for extra features, because commenters clarified this is a controller for those that can't use the standard PS5 controller (not just a customization kit for everyone).
players who rely on rumble and haptic triggers for gameplay feedback, because commenters pointed out this kit does not include the rumble and haptic triggers found on a standard DualSense.
gamers who need full analog-stick and trigger/bumps functionality for their specific titles, because commenters said compatibility depends on the game and losing trigger/bumps/press-down can matter (with two sticks being ideal if a game needs both).

What would be better is if Sony controllers in general didn't get stick drift so often.

I am in for one. Even though I can use a regular controller, I have had 6 surgeries on one of my hands due to an injury around 20 years ago, including a prosthetic knuckle.
I also like the idea of supporting such innovations for those that have it worse than me.
I might occasionally blame my hand for being bad at games, but I think I am just not that good at them any more. I used to be good when there was only 2 buttons though! And some of those were WAY more difficult than some games today.🙂

Microsoft also has really good accessibility support, although it is a bit more expensive. They have a whole ecosystem around their adaptive controller:

If so, did either of them work for you?
