Really awesome Sony has this.
What would be cool too is if Sony had a splash page about it on the PS5, with an option that would allow people to donate, even $1, towards these controllers for players who need them.
Don't speak for others. Most of us appreciate any help offered, especially something like a special controller after a life altering accident. These would've been great when I wound up at the Rehabilitation Institution of St Louis. There were more young patients than old, and most of them just lost their ability to be physically independent and financially independent.
Boo hoo, you have to pay more for your controller, and it gets stick drift over time. I'd love to have your problems.
Community Reviews
Sony's Access Controller is a customizable PS5 accessibility kit built for players who cannot use a standard DualSense, not a cosmetic add on. It stands out for making console gaming more reachable, especially for people with hand injuries, limited finger use, or other physical limitations. The kit is also described as lacking rumble and haptic triggers, which helps explain the lower price. Practical use depends on the game, since titles needing two analog sticks may require two units, while simpler games can work with one.
Common Questions (4)
At $35, it is far below older accessibility setups that could cost around $500 and below some Xbox adaptive setups that require extra switches, mounts, and joysticks. That lower price makes it a more accessible entry point for players who need adaptive controls.
It is an accessibility controller for players who cannot comfortably use a standard PS5 DualSense. The kit is meant to make PS5 gaming possible with remappable inputs and a customizable layout, rather than serving as a cosmetic add-on.
It depends on the game. Titles that need two analog sticks usually work best with two units, but simpler games can be played with one using the D-pad and the four face buttons on the same side.
No. It lacks rumble, haptic triggers, and similar DualSense features, which helps explain why it can be cheaper to produce than a standard PS5 controller.

What would be better is if Sony controllers in general didn't get stick drift so often.

I am in for one. Even though I can use a regular controller, I have had 6 surgeries on one of my hands due to an injury around 20 years ago, including a prosthetic knuckle.
I also like the idea of supporting such innovations for those that have it worse than me.
I might occasionally blame my hand for being bad at games, but I think I am just not that good at them any more. I used to be good when there was only 2 buttons though! And some of those were WAY more difficult than some games today.🙂

Microsoft also has really good accessibility support, although it is a bit more expensive. They have a whole ecosystem around their adaptive controller:

If so, did either of them work for you?
