I have the prior model, which looks very similar to this one, though this is a bit longer, and I am very happy with it. It sounds great. I use it in my basement for casting music. The one I have is 20 watts, so I suspect this one is around the same. The model I have is the NS-HMSB20. This is a great price. I think I paid more for mine two years ago.

Here is the one I have: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/i...J2FPJKLCQH

I bought the smaller one for my grandmother's 24" kitchen TV. For $25, you can't beat it. It is a great improvement for dialogue clarity over the TV's built-in speakers and the HDMI connection functions exactly as you'd expect—you can adjust the soundbar's volume using the TV's remote control.

If you hold the mute button on the remote for ~8 seconds, it will disable the "HDMI" announcement when you turn it on, which I found annoying.

All bb reviewers of the 20" were incentivized; anyone out there have any direct experience owning one of these?

Not sure if this will help you or not since it's not the exact same model Smilie .. but in 2018 I purchased the 12 inch model Insignia sound bar Model: NS-SB216 and as of Jan 2026 still working great Smilie ... Nov 2017 grabbed the exact same model for the other TV as of Jan 2026 also still working great ... I should point out we are not what you would consider an "audiophile snob" Stick Out Tongue by any means ... if the sound quality is at least equal to that which would come out of the TV's built-in speakers we're happy and honestly we just buy them to spare the TV speakers from getting burnt out ... we get the tiny 12 inch model because that's the largest size soundbar my wife will tolerate she flat out refuses to get a larger soundbar even if it's a better price/value for sound quality. No problem with the sound volume you can pump it up loud enough to be clearly heard even a few rooms over Smilie ...

Hence why he said that it is the prior model.

This is exactly the best use case for these and similar small soundbars. Don't think of them as adding room-filling sound, think of them as directional dialogue speakers. Almost all TV speakers these days are downward or rearward-firing and that tends to muddle voices a bit, especially for older listeners. Having a simple front-firing speaker system, especially with no sub is a godsend for people who have trouble picking out audio. Combine this with a TV's dialogue boost (or the soundbar, if so equipped) and it's night and day.

I bought this the day after Christmas for $22 to use with a cheap Fire TV. For the price, it sounds great and way better than the TV speakers. Much better than I expected.

One other tip.
If putting it under a 24" TV or smaller, this shelf is exactly the correct size to allow the soundbar to sit underneath.

I just got an open box 20" last week. Using it for home office rather than laptop speakers. Sounds really good so far, have only listened to YouTube and some of my music library.
