Eddie Bauer clearance is strongest for steep apparel and gear discounts, especially on down outerwear, travel pants, medium tall shirts, and kids items. The sale can stack with free in store pickup, free returns when available, cashback, and occasional birthday codes, which helps offset shipping thresholds. The main drawbacks are the brand changes behind the scenes, with warranty coverage now described as much shorter and older lifetime promises no longer honored. Quality complaints also surface around jeans, hiking pants, T shirts, and overall fit, making this feel best for bargain hunters who know the current sizing and policies.

  • people shopping for lightweight travel pants because they say Eddie Bauer still makes the best lightweight travel pants and they'll keep buying as long as the Ascent line holds up.

  • tall and skinny shoppers who need long sleeves without bagginess because Eddie Bauer offers medium tall shirts that are long enough while still fitting properly.

  • buyers who want a down coat or down parka for a steep clearance price because one commenter got a 650-fill down coat and down parka for $119 total after reductions plus an additional 50% off.

  • shoppers who can use in-store pickup/returns because the deal notes you can pick up (and return) in store for free if the item is available near you.

  • customers who are specifically watching for free-shipping thresholds because one commenter says they've only seen Eddie Bauer offer free shipping (with no minimum) once in the past five years, so a free-shipping offer is a meaningful trigger for them.

  • people who buy Eddie Bauer expecting long-term warranty coverage because commenters report the lifetime warranty was phased out/abandoned after ownership changes and customer service said returns/exchanges/warranty are only covered for 60 days.

  • buyers who are counting on clearance being a standout discount because commenters say clearance is often already 40-60% off, so the current offer doesn't feel much better than usual.

  • hikers or outdoor shoppers who need pants that last because one commenter says their hiking pants started falling apart within about 6 months and they won't buy again.

  • people who want to combine adult and kids orders into one shipment because a commenter says kids clearance is on a different site and shipping can't be combined for adults & kids, which is annoying.

  • customers who rely on gift cards for online purchases because one commenter reports an email saying gift cards can be used only in-store (and have an in-store-only deadline).

I'm fine not shopping there AND I'm fine that they're fine. My comment was meant to inform people Eddie Bauer abandoned this perk. And the warranty didn't require proof of purchase. There's an Eddie Bauer logo on the backpack. They knew I bought it from their company. I was a walking advertisement for their brand for over 10 years, and they were happy to honor the promise they made when I bought the product up until recently.I'm communicating my experience.
Pay no attention to the beaten down corporate pets who are so used to being ripped off and screwed over by corporations due to the fantasy of forever increasing profits and fiduciary responsibility that words no longer have meanings and lying is considered part of a business "surviving."

There's nothing to "beware" of here. Businesses can't survive when people nitpick every little inconvenience and keep demanding more even after being helped once. You already received a free replacement, then broke it again, and now expect another one after decades. How long is that cycle supposed to go on?If I didn't like a burger yesterday, should I walk into your restaurant today and demand a free one, and repeat tomorrow? It sounds absurd because it is absurd. This kind of behavior is exactly why prices keep rising for everyone and why customer service keeps declining—legitimate customers end up treated like freeloaders and thieves because of situations like this.I've never once asked for a replacement in my life, not even for electronics under warranty that I didn't bother to check. Meanwhile, some people want free clothes and backpacks forever. That's not fairness—that's exploitation.

I used to really like their pants, especially for hiking. But the last few I bought in the last couple years don't last more than a 6 months before they start falling apart. I don't think I'll be buying any more from this brand.

FYI - I bought an Eddie Bauer backpack over a decade ago specifically because they were offering a lifetime warranty. I replaced it once about 5 years after that, no problem, but then just the other day tried to replace it again after the strap began to tear off, and discovered Eddie Bauer phased out the lifetime warranty in recent years. Citing new ownership, the clerk refused to honor the lifetime warranty I bought the backpack under. Given they no longer have or honor the lifetime warranty, I see no reason to ever buy their products again. Buyer beware, I suppose.
They used to also make nice T-shirts, but now they have these disgusting stamped huge logos on the shirt which make it not breathable.

Still a great brand, even if not as amazing as they use to be!

They are one of the few places that I have seen that offer medium tall shirts. Great for those of us that are tall and skinny. Allows me to have long sleeves that are long enough without being baggy.

I have a 10% off birthday code that expires on 1/26. For clearance, it applies to the price before the 50% off.
EB switched from the generic birthday codes to one-time use codes. PM if you want it. I will update this post when it is gone.

I was told by their customer service that return, exchange and warranty are now only covered for 60 days from the purchase date. The new owner is JCPenny. Feels like the good days of product quality, reasonable prices and warranty are behind us for Eddie Bauer.
And it's even worse now: return policy is 30 days AND a $10 restocking fee. Orders before 2/1/26 are subject to the old return policy.
The online EB has been sold to a different company and the physical locations are closing. Earlier in this thread I said clearance always has an extra discount, well the old rules don't apply.

I just received an email that says the last day to use gift cards is 3/12/26 in store only (if you can find one).
