I got this for 35 a few months back. I used it to replace my Ring 3 door bell due to a few reasons. 1) The dumb yearly subscription. 2) The front plastic cover for the lens de laminated which is common. 3) The video quality is bad and the audio was choppy and sometimes the people couldn't hear or understand me. This might have been due to the wifi signal not being strong enough. 4) Many times it would completely miss motion and not send a notification 5) There were some controversial decisions made about police being able to access the video captured by Ring cameras.

Here's the good and bad of the Tapo:

1) Way better quality in video and people hear me clearly now.
2) No yearly subscription, all recordings to a SD card in the camera.
3) Has the similar features and Tapo or TP-Link has good support.
4) It had to compatible with a solar panel and I was able to test it working with a USB C solar panel so I don't have to manually charge it. It's at 100% all the time.

Bad:
1) The notifications don't show an Image of who or what triggered the motion/doorbell.

So far no regrets switching. I also have Tapo security cameras so everything is one app now which is nice.

I have this. Installed 4 months ago, battery is at 25% now. Picks up footages without any problems, and very responsive. I don't think you could anything better at $35.

I have this too and I agree. Quite happy with it and the Tapo system for the price.

I went with the wired version just cause I didn't want to worry about batteries but am also well pleased with the results. I paid around this price for one from amazon warehouse.

Did you have a chime with your ring, and did you get one with your tapo - I have a ring one and am curious if I can live without it if I get the tapo?

does yours actually show 100% since it's wired. my wired one was 100%, but now down to 92% after about 8 months. weird that it goes down when it's wired and it's showing wired continuously on.

Your wired is most likely connected to a battery internal that has degraded overtime like a iPhones battery health degrades.

How is this a slick deal when it appears to be the regular price?

Great price, but no 24/7 recording option because it's battery powered. For me, definitely worth the higher price for that nonstop recording feature.
