Top Comments
Here's the good and bad of the Tapo:
1) Way better quality in video and people hear me clearly now.
2) No yearly subscription, all recordings to a SD card in the camera.
3) Has the similar features and Tapo or TP-Link has good support.
4) It had to compatible with a solar panel and I was able to test it working with a USB C solar panel so I don't have to manually charge it. It's at 100% all the time.
Bad:
1) The notifications don't show an Image of who or what triggered the motion/doorbell.
So far no regrets switching. I also have Tapo security cameras so everything is one app now which is nice.
Community Reviews
This Tapo 2K wireless doorbell camera stands out for solid video and audio at a very low price, with local SD card recording and no yearly subscription. It can be powered by battery, wired, or even kept topped up with a USB C solar panel, and it works with the Tapo app and H500 hub. The main tradeoffs are uneven motion and person alerts, missing image previews in notifications, and no clear 24/7 recording support on the battery model. A compact option if you want affordable local recording and can live with some alert quirks.

Someone else mentioned Best Buy is same price. Maybe you could get discounted Best Buy gift cards at Target or reward points at Kroger to make it worth while. GL!

Unrelated but got one of these to use in my back patio instead of a regular camera and works great, I have it plugged into a small solar panel and it continuously charges. I just used a 90 degree cable so it wouldn't hang below the doorbell.

Really happy with Tapo and able to keep my footage private.
My use case is a perimeter camera: I have it mounted on the fence covering a couple of gates and the side door to the house. North-facing so it doesn't get direct sunlight; but will experience rain/moisture with little protection. TX winter has been very mild so far, so cannot vouch for weather resistance yet. Although first week it fogged up, but so did my 1-year old Tapo solar cam. Flawless since.
It doesn't use your chime but it does come with a chime to plug in somewhere inside.
