Insiders leaking Nvidia is cutting consumer GPU production by 20-30% so this card at this price will probably look pretty good 6 months from now.

That being said I would still pinch a few more pennies for a 12gb 5070 or 16gb 5060 ti. Those cards will age much much better.

If you play at 1080 or upscale to 1440, 8 is all you need for 95% of the games out there. Yeah it seems crazy in this day and age but we're in a little bit of a gaming dark ages right now where there's little or no progress in game graphics.

If you only have $260 to spend, you have limited options. You aren't getting a current gen GPU with 16GB for anywhere near this price. You can get an Arc B580 with 12GB but that comes with a whole bunch of different compromises such as compatibility and lower performance. The used market is exploding right now for cards with more than 8GB of VRAM. So you can get a 6700 XT which is slower, 2 generations older, far worse RT performance and lacks the DLSS4 features.

It sucks but there is no good option at this price point. People love to say 8GB is awful and they aren't wrong but at this price point, there is really no great alternative. You are going to be making compromises and you need to decide which compromises you want to make.

Cheapest 5060ti i see is BB at $430.
I agree those two might be better investments given how this will play out.

I wouldn't recommend buying a card with less than 12gb RAM (or ideally 16gb) these days unless you play nothing demanding, or just 1080p. Many modern (and very near future) games will fill 8GB up and performance will tank.

Unless no one has 16 GB cards and game designers are forced to do more with less memory. That being said I picked up a couple 5060 TI 16gb from Microcenter last week.

Completely agree - but my comment was to make people in that $260 range aware of the compromise they'd be making. Buying what's in your budget is important; so is understanding the limitations.
