If you have an external subwoofer, the real world difference is marginal IMO.
However, if you don't plan on investing in a sub, or if you just want that "wow" factor, I would go for the larger speakers.
I own the prior Gen RP -280FA set paired with 2 RP-1400 subs, and it is sublime.
Why I'm stacking physical silver & Bitcoin in self custody.
cynic is me says it won't happen due to extra 'external' fees, but hold out hope if you wish!

If you're replacing probably not worth it.
If buying new, would not advise ever going with the R line ime.
