cynic is me says it won't happen due to extra 'external' fees, but hold out hope if you wish!

Probably not a good idea when (almost) everything is skyrocketing in price.

How much better are these over a pair of R-625FA?

Yes, before all this turmoil we have now.

This is probably the new low for the foreseeable future, IF it doesn't go up more!

You go up in series, keep in mind you will lose the built in Atmos modules.

I still have my Monitor 70s, 40s, and CS2. One day I'll upgrade, but I'll probably keep running them for a while.

edit: just noticed you are comparing Reference series to Reference Premier - the difference is substantial. I would only buy RP.

If you have an external subwoofer, the real world difference is marginal IMO.

However, if you don't plan on investing in a sub, or if you just want that "wow" factor, I would go for the larger speakers.

I own the prior Gen RP -280FA set paired with 2 RP-1400 subs, and it is sublime.

Yes - inflation really about to return with a vengeance in the next 3-6 months.

Why I'm stacking physical silver & Bitcoin in self custody.

Still rocking my Monitor 75T from like 2012! Been through 3 or 4 different amps, and two houses!

If you're talking about the modules, I agree.

If you're replacing probably not worth it.
If buying new, would not advise ever going with the R line ime.
