Sony's WH 1000XM6 is landing as a strong noise canceling headphone deal, with standout ANC, clear sound, and especially solid bass and low end isolation for flying or other loud travel. The lighter build and long session comfort get praise in some cases, and the price is being called much better than recent Amazon or eBay offers. The main knocks are clamping force, top cushion comfort, and a few reports of hinge durability concerns carried over from older Sony models. A good fit if noise blocking matters more than plush comfort.
Frequent flyers who want strong cabin noise blocking, because engine noise and crying babies can disappear in flight.
Listeners who prioritize bass-forward sound, because the low end has extra oomph and the bass is decent.
Commuters and office workers who wear headphones for long sessions, because the noise canceling stays very good over time and the headphones are extremely light.
Shoppers replacing older XM4s, because this model is a decent upgrade with better noise canceling and sound.
People who need all-day comfort, because the clamp can feel harsh and the top cushion may be insufficient.
Buyers worried about long-term hinge durability, because the hinge can break after months or about a year and a half of light use.
Listeners who switch audio between a TV and phones often, because toggling can be unreliable.
People who want aptX support for lossless Bluetooth audio, because Sony does not offer it.
