I owned this AVR, at one time, for about 18 months
I paid less than this and sold it for what I paid for it...
But at this price, for what it can do out of the box it is a still a solid deal at this price
In the context of what I see of product range( and popularity) on slick deals , IMO this unit should check all the boxes

The TX RZ50 stands out as a feature rich 9.2 channel AVR with Dirac Live included and enough power for a solid out of the box home theater setup. It is often framed as a strong value versus Denon and Marantz, especially if you do not need 11 channels or plan to add expensive room correction upgrades later. The main cautions are its older five year platform, reported low impedance and support concerns, and the fact that ART would still require extra hardware and about $600 in add ons. It remains a capable pick if you want Dirac now and do not need the newest upgrade path.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. At $900 with free shipping, it is still a solid out-of-the-box deal for what it can do, especially if you want Dirac Live included and a strong feature set without paying for higher-end models. A prior $750 sale and a $599 pre-tariff purchase show it has been cheaper before, but this price is still considered reasonable for the current market.
The TX-RZ50 includes the base Dirac Live license, but it does not have a path to Dirac ART. ART is expected to require additional purchases such as Bass Control and ART, which can add roughly $600, so it only makes sense if you already have the rest of the setup in place.
Its rated 120 W/ch is measured with 2 channels driven, so the real-world output is less impressive once all surround channels are in play. For average home listening levels, it can still be hard to tell apart from similar receivers when properly set up, though low-impedance speakers and larger rooms may benefit from more headroom.
There are reports of historical reliability concerns with Onkyo in-house AVRs, and the TX-RZ50 is also described as less ideal for low-impedance speakers. That said, it is still viewed as a strong feature-per-dollar receiver if those tradeoffs do not matter for your setup.
Probably not if your external amps already cover the channels you need. The RZ50 does not have a true preamp mode, so its internal amplification still draws power, while the step up to an RZ70 may be unnecessary if you already own dedicated amplification.

If this is the unit you've been waiting for, this is probably the time to get it.
It could also be that the new replacement is coming out by the end of this year.

Maybe everyone that wanted one got one.

The new models look promising (but we don't know pricing yet) and I wanted to upgrade but didnt want to wait a year..
Yea latest speculation is end of this year now but that can easily change again.
I get the big thing is ART, TBH you should have the equipment 1st to make it worthwhile ime.
Especially since MSRP will likely not be cheap then you have to purchase Bass Control AND ART which is another $600!

Believe the Pioneer is cheapest of the lot.

Comes down to feature priorities.
Denon & Marantz has the most but the most expensive(no surprise), especially Marantz.
The Pioneer has the least but least expensive.
If you don't need 11 channels, I would add the RZ30 into the mix.Especially at the sale price of $750!
Here is a comparison.

By the time an audiophile who knows all 4 models answers your question here, you're better off asking for a breakdown there and getting your answer more quickly! 🤷🏻
Believe the Pioneer is cheapest of the lot.
1) 3800 - most features and cheapest way to get Dirac ART
2) RZ50 - included base DL license but no possibility of ART, not the best AVR for low impedance speakers
3) Cinema 50 - an overpriced version of the 3800
4) LX505 - PAC has lost the Pioneer license. Purchase at own risk and be prepared for difficulty getting support 3-5 years from now.
