1. It needs an amp for this headphone to shine like seriously. Don't expect good results by plugging this headphone into your phone or something.
2. These headphones are extremely flat and if your coming from V shape sounds like xm6 or any consumer grade headphones these will almost 100% sound boring for you. I own a lot of headphones, hd800s to name one and I personally think these were way to veil for me but the hd600 is in a league of its own still.

"Good news for fans of the HD 650: In this revision...," the HD6xx, "...the driver structure and sound signature haven't changed a bit. You'll get the same smooth, laid-back presentation, with a balanced midrange and natural-sounding bass. The HD 650 is considered more refined and better damped than its predecessor, the HD 600, with less energy in the upper midrange (which some listeners may find less fatiguing) and an overall balance that's a bit warmer and bassier."

They are nice headphones (I have a pair). And they have robust build and are repairable. Sound quality is good, but for this price one can get modern Chinese planars that arguably have much better sound although might require better amplification. This is old tech, and it does sound like a (very nice) old tech.
