The WD Green SN3000 2TB is a budget NVMe aimed at basic gaming and everyday storage, with advertised speeds up to 5,000 MB per second and a 3 year limited warranty. The low price around $108 to $109 makes it attractive versus pricier Gen 4 drives, and burst tasks like Windows loads and game launches should feel fine. The main concerns are its QLC design, 250 TBW endurance, and reports of slow sustained transfers once the cache fills. Reliability and order handling also drew complaints, including premature failures, cancellations, and unexpected charges.

  • The SN3000 lists QLC endurance at 250TBW, which can fit budget expectations for lighter workloads.

  • The drive can work for burst tasks like loading Windows and transferring small files.

  • Warranty returns reportedly can be straightforward, including uploading photos and shipping the drive.

  • The deal price reportedly came out to about $116 after taxes for a replacement NVMe.

  • Order cancellations and unexpected charges reportedly can occur, including placeholder cancellation reasons and missing refunds.

  • The SN3000 is QLC and its listed endurance of 250TBW may be low for heavy write usage.

  • Reliability concerns include reports of WD Green drives failing in less than a year when used externally.

  • Checkout and coupon use reportedly can fail due to cart edit errors and coupon expiration timing.

Great Deal! 2TB NVME up to 5,000MB/s for $109 after coupon. 3-Year Limited Warranty. Reminds me of prices 6 months ago. Amazon wants double for similar if you can find it. 😀

Friends don't let friends buy SanDisk products. They are very shady about component part numbers and often silently replace well-reviewed products with slower performing ones after all the reviews come out.

And WD? They've been caught with their pants down pulling shenanigans more than once in the last couple years.

Consider giving an honest company your money.

The only shenanigans I am seeing is prices jumping over 100% in the last year. I normally use Samsung but I'll try this GREEN drive. It's easy to speed test. I paid $129 for a 2TB Samsung EVO Plus 6 months ago. Now they want $330 if you can find one. Crazy AI demand is driving inflation to new levels - never seen before.

Just bought one. Not sure if I wanna use it for PS4 or not but it's about 50% cheaper than the going rate at this point and I won't saturate the speeds anyway.

This is the older model. Replaced by the newer SN350.
Amazon wants $134 just for 1 TB.

This is not bad considering the current market, but be advised that this is QLC and Endurance (TBW) is listed as 250units.
Anymore I wish reviewers would just drop a 1TB file onto the drive, copy it back to the same model drive, and measure how big the SLC cache is and what the sustained transfer rate for read and write is once it's exhausted. In actual user experience, nothing else really matters anymore, as these drives are all more than fast enough for burst operations like loading Windows, transferring small files, etc.

Endurance seems very low. A fifth of their blue drives. Wonder how long this can be expected to last for moderate usage. Like every time you load a game and play it, and it updates the save file, there's some modification occurring.

Rather than 40 years, only 25 years, maybe?

Do you often write 1TB to a drive at a time? I don't. I hear what you are saying : speed drops when you have massive, long, long writes to a drive. But most users simply shouldn't care about this, most of the time. Most people would rather have the $108 2TB deal, rather than a drive that's 50% faster 5x a year for $300.

Their actual returns and warranty process, though, is fine. They bought Western Digital's business, and I recently had to replace a failed WD 850X (under warranty). The process (with SanDisk) was trivial - take and upload a few pics (including of receipt and drive itself) then ship it. The most time consuming part was probably realizing WD didn't support the drive anymore and I had to go to SanDisk. It wasn't hard. I did need to pay about $5 for shipping to them, although they saved me probably $5-8 vs my paying for the shipping myself (ie I used their bulk shipping agreements with UPS, rather than paying more at my local UPS store).

Later Edit: Please can you point me to an 'honest' company? ADATA replaces products in their lifecycle too. Wouldn't be at all surprised if everyone did it at one time or other.

To be fair, $5 is a trivial shipping fee, especially with the state of shipping charges in general these days.
