For those who want to avoid burning up a ton of time because retailers and manufacturers bury critical info, this appears to be an LN1100, and its Cognitive Mesh is incompatible with older Intelligent Mesh products from Linksys.

The LN1100 has additional router capabilities but can serve as a node too. Multiples can make a mesh network without the dedicated LN1200. But depending on your needs it might be cheaper to pick up the package instead.
