This limited edition TMNT trilogy set is being treated as a boutique collectible, with the appeal centered on Arrow's packaging, extras, picture quality, and special features. The 4K disc is said to work well on a PS5 if Dolby Vision is not needed, and a Panasonic DP UB150 K player is recommended for getting more out of Dolby Vision discs. The main hesitation is price, since $49.99 feels steep for a nostalgic remaster and especially hard to justify with the third movie included. It reads like a premium shelf piece for collectors who want the full package.
Physical media collectors who want a boutique 4K release, because the packaging, picture quality, and special features make it feel like a premium shelf title.
Nostalgic TMNT fans who want the first two films in 4K, because the trilogy package includes the original movies that are still regarded as the strongest entries.
Limited overlap between 4K collectors and 1990s TMNT fans can make the $50 price harder to justify.
Common Questions (3)
The $49.99 price is widely seen as steep for a nostalgic remaster, especially because the set includes the third movie. Waiting may bring a lower price, since the title is expected to sit on shelves and drop further over time.
Arrow's limited editions are treated as boutique-label collectibles with extra packaging, card posters, other swag, picture quality, and special features. The set is also expected to sell out and can hold resale value after going out of print.
The discs can take advantage of Dolby Vision on compatible players and TVs. A PS5 works fine if Dolby Vision is not needed, while a player like the Panasonic DP-UB150-K is recommended for getting Dolby Vision support.
For its time and its target audience, the second was better than the first one. Yoyos became INSANELY popular after that movie LOL. My elementary school held tournaments.
The first one was more geared toward young adults.
I want this for under $40. And once Target's next B2G1 sale happens, that should be easy to get (unless they raise the price for the sale, which does happen a lot).
Good luck with that I just looked it up at target. And as i thought they don't carry it at all.

I don't see how anyone thinks the second one is better even as a kid I didn't think that. And by the way I do own this set
This is at least $20 too expensive unless they were steelbook.
Glad you took time out of your day to tell us this.can you name me a recently release 4k box set with 3 films for under $50 bucks.I said recently mean just came out like a month ago
PS5 works great if you wouldn't benefit from Dolby Vision, which my Samsung TVs don't support anyway.
Wait a minute he said he's still using a ps3 so he not ready to spend that much I recommend Panasonic stand a long player model DP-UB150-K 4k player.Walmart has it for $180 and I reviews are very good plus it has Dolby vision one of the best reasons to own a 4k players.

As nostalgic as this looks...that's a steep price for a remaster.
Thank you for your un wanted opinion Arrow is a boutique label like criterion there one the best. there with swag in the box like card posters and other goodies. Also the picture quality and special features and the over all package make then only second to Criterion in my opinion. It thinks it's to expensive don't buy it and for the record Arrow always sell out and they are limited editions and I have sold some of there titles for good money when they have gone out of print.

Sadly, there probably just isn't enough overlap between 4K physical media collectors and 1990s era TMNT fan base to justify a $50 price tag. Prices should drop further if you play the waiting game. Retailers are likely sitting on stock that'll collect dust at this price. I still have an old VHS copy of the first movie (it may have come with a coupon book good at Pizza Hut, if I'm remembering correctly).
Arrow is a boutique label. They generally never have an issue selling out any of their LEs. The physical media community buys up pretty much anything from the boutique labels even if they have no actual nostalgia themselves for the movie. Half of them just collect them and leave them on a shelf.

For sure. Growing up, 2 was my favorite. Having rewatched all 3 recently, 1 is now my favorite by far
